What is a “Tibo reset”?

Thibault Sottiaux (@thsottiaux, “tibo”), who leads Codex at OpenAI, occasionally resets Codex usage limits for paid users and announces it on X. The community calls these “Tibo resets”.

How does this site detect resets?

We periodically read public tweets through keyword screening, then send likely candidates to an LLM classifier on Vercel AI Gateway (default Minimax). The model labels reset vs announcement vs unrelated and extracts urgency, scope, and joke/banter signals. When the AI is unavailable or fails, we fall back to rules with lower confidence.

Does YES mean my account was reset?

Not necessarily. A public announcement doesn’t guarantee your account’s state. Always confirm your own usage in Codex settings.

How do I check my real usage?

Open chatgpt.com/codex/settings/usage, or run /status in the Codex CLI.

When do resets usually happen?

Historically, resets never happen between 1 and 8 AM Pacific Time, and peak between 10 AM and 6 PM PT.
